marty was raised in a jewish family, but now she is a christian. Her doctoral adviser told her to meet his friend mark kinser who had been friends with howard lo and a for years. Mark took Marty under his wing as she wrestled through personal questions about where do i fit in? And he ended up serving on my doctral committee. He officiated at our wedding. I just have an immense amount of respect for him as a human being, as a friend, as a colleague, as a scholar.
