In the 1930s, there were lots of words in Donald's life, but what there was not was any word for him. The American psychiatric lexicon at this time was full of words for what they used to call nature's mistakes. Mary had been overstimulating her son with all her singing to him, all these Psalms, all these songs. They said that what Donald needed was to be away from her and what he really needs was to be in an institution.

We sit down with Kyrylo Budanov, Ukraine’s youngest-ever spymaster. He is intense, resolute—and oddly charismatic. A world of electrified transport is going to need lots of nickel for batteries.
