John Tall bought a bottle of prussic acid to treat his varicose veins. The poison was also known as cyanide, which is an incredibly lethal poison. On New Year's Day 1845 he tries to get the money he needs to pay Sarah Hart. He heads to London and gets the four o'clock train from Paddington to Slough. As Carol Baxter mentioned, people at the railway station in Slough recognized his Quaker clothing. John Tall mulled over both choices - would he make the right one?
