How to Minimize Energy and Time in Mammal Scaling

In this paper we really did try to take two different sort of hypotheses, i guess, about how it is that these fractl branching networks are what they're minimizing. And wright the west al at all model really said it's about minimize energy dissipation and maximize rate of flow. We put both of those constraints into a model of minimized energy and time - but there was some systematic deviations from three quarter power scaling. There's this curvature, slight curvature in the scaling scaling relationships. But interestingly, if that's in fact the empirical truth, the scaling exponent you get depends on where you measure on the line, because it's not quite a line.
