The Problem With Conspiracy Theories
People with stronger conspiracy beliefs are usually more likely to overestimate the likelihood of cooccurring events, and to have lower levels of analytic thinking. There is not much analytic thinking involved in conspiracy theories. Once a person starts inventing a narrative out of thin air, you can see very little critical thinking occurring.
