I would say it makes it easier overall. You ignore the fact that you have to be writing types and TypeScript. The reason we're annoyed with common JS right now is because we have all of this interrupt that we have to do between the module formats. So by having a spec, they can implement it in Node.js, in Dino, in the Cloudflare workers, in the browser,. But then also people were not using things in the browser. To the point where a lot of people think like maybe ESM was a mistake, because there was nothing wrong with common JS.
