Chrysostom claims that this forcefully refutes both Aryan and Sabelian heresis. He says the biblical text allows us neither to think of Christ as unoriginal nor to consider him to be other than God. Chrysostom emphasizes the phrase by himself at this point seemingly indicating again the agency of the son in achieving that which only God can do to cleanse from sin. The son cannot be understood to be anything less than the everlasting creator himself.
