Confederacy - The Last Best Hope of Earth

Lincoln was a commander in chief with virtually no military experience to give himself a crash course in tactics and strategy. He borrowed books on military science from the library of congress and stayed up late studying. The union held three quarters of america's wealth and an equal proportion of its railroads. It manufactured 97 % of the country's firearms. More than twice as many people lived in the north as in the south. And the union also controlled the sea, while the confederacy scrambled to build a navy in counterpoint.
