The Avenging Angel
This began quite early with the woman shouting to the neighbourhood her goodness and his wrongs. But at the end it gets really biblical. The woman leans muttering against a tree, exhausted, purged. To be purged can mean to be cleansed of sin and avenged in part for lifelong hidings. And there's that sympathy, it seems, for the violent parent - just like we got in those winter sundays.
