Hitchens's View on COVID
I get the feeling that whatever Hitchens take on COVID would have been that he wouldn't have had any truck with apologetics for Russia in the Ukraine war. He was writing a lot about Putin's aggression and chauvinism and imperialism, you know, regarding Georgia when he was still alive. So I think it's pretty obvious what line he would have taken on the invasion of Ukraine. And I do think that he would have had a lot of contempt for people who fancy themselves left wing, but seem to think that like a handshake deal at the end of the Cold War between Gorbachev and like James Baker should permanently determine the geopolitical makeup of Europe.
