The Future of American Power in the Indo Pacific

I don't think it's going to have anything like the same impact on domestic american confidence as sigon did. It will certainly strength the shift that's already under way, from a kennedyesque belief that America should pay any price for its rights and freedoms,. to a harder edged focus on American interests first. The major short term impact on the us is not on questions of credibility, but on perceptions of competence or incompetence. I'm sceptical that the impotence of the us in this context really translates into its indo pacific strat. And i cannot see how assessments of this admittedly staggering failure really linking anyway to the behaviour of the rest of the region.
