The Importance of a Long Track Record
It's got to be interesting to some degree to see so many academic folks. Quite a few academics have gone straight into fund management with all of these papers. They've raised a lot of assets on techniques that might not be the best thing in the future. I recently gave a presentation about responsible investing in commodities. Some of them present all kinds of semi-academic stories behind why being long in a commodity future would give you some kind of risk premium. These stories are just completely wrong. And they can prove them wrong.
