Time and Railways, Is It a Myth?
Time and railways are a really important story, but they're only a partial story. And the story is about standardization, which is a really, really important story in the 19th century. The idea that every clock in every city switched over the railway time, which was effectively Greenwich time, by some historians say like 1855. But it wasn't until 1880 that a law was passed in this country saying that Greenwich time was the official legal time for Britain, Dublin time and Ireland.
