The Cultural Downswing of the Gita Press Movement
Gita Press had success within the culture, but not within politics. I'm just wondering whether today that they've gained this enormous political success. There is also a slight cultural downswing because of the dual forces of globalization and urbanization. As we become more exposed to the globe as we are incorporating hip hop in a film like Gully Boy, or as more people are getting aspirational in different ways than they would earlier. And as more and more of India is urbanizing, which tends to put people together, more squeezed together and less likely to discriminate.
