Just 432 individuals own 50% of privately held land in rural Scotland. Community ownership has been growing since the early 90s, but it still accounts for only 3%. In Scotland, land prices have jumped by 87% in the last year. If rewilding schemes and the payouts they give to landowners make ownership of land more valuable, then the land itself becomes more valuable.
