The UK has a system of exclusions where young people can be excluded from a career path and then like a path to just like being a functional human being in society. If a teacher takes against you, they think you're rude or misbehaving, they can exclude you. Then that goes on to your educational record. You might get a permanent exclusion, which is what we call being expelled from school now.
