Star Formation in the Southern Ring Nebula

This is a collection of galaxies that are gravitationally interactiv and you can see the beginnings of a couple of them starting to merge. They're getting so close that they're outer suburbs are brushing against each other, and that's heating, heating up the gas and making it glow very hot. But also you get star formation that way. Sometimes when you get this turmoil created by two galaxies rubbing up against each other,. tat causes some of the gas and dust to start clumping, as described previously in the karena nebula, and create new stars.
