Aristophanes presents a story in which people are literal other halves for the seeking of the sense of wholeness, outlined in the abstract. The real origins of love is something created out of the machinations of zeus and the gods in their war with mankind. And it's this pursuant then, feeling of yearning we have to be made whole again, to become our full selves again. But there is a clever way in which this story is sort of a response to aracimacus.
