The History of Cork Acorns

Thomas Jefferson going back in the 1700s was fascinated by cork and how it was used in in capping wine cast. He tried he wanted to grow it at his home in Monticello but the Atlantic passage at that point was took too long so the cork acorns couldn't survive. It wasn't until the mid-1800s when you had faster ships that you could actually try to grow cork in North America and have some success.
