yeoman archers were credited with many important english victories of that era, such as the victory at crecy in france in 13 forty six. He is not a superhuman, powerful figure. Rather, he's mercurial. And you can see in his persona a sort of strange juxtaposition, which is appropriate maybe to the classic outlaw or bandit. It's a juxtaposition of violence and brutality on the one hand, and courtesy on the other.
