Future Proofing Code

A thing that I would like to think more about would be future proofing code. A lot of the stuff that I've done has been based on APIs. Like Twitter, for example, a lot of the tools that I wrote around Twitter suddenly no longer work. If I could just snap my fingers and be good at something, that's what I would like.
