Orpheus and Eurydice
Orpheus and Eurydice fell in love, deeply, madly, and completely in love. They got married on a beautiful day surrounded by their friends and family. A shepherd named Aristaeus became irrationally angry when she decided to marry someone else. After the wedding feast was over, Aristaeus hid in the bushes outside and waited for the happy couple to begin the walk home. In America, you are statistically more likely to be struck by lightning than die of a snake bite. I didn't know this story was going to be an anti-snake story!
