The Importance of Other Eyes in Art Making

I think that for me I've always believed that the only people you have to listen to really in terms of whether your book works or not are other artists. The voice is often declarative, and because the book relies so much on voice, more than plot, we rely as readers, not on what happens, but on these declarations as the main evidence of how the world works. And the voice sometimes reminds me in some ways of the way a God would speak or of reading a religious text.
