The Eye of the Soul
As the eyes are to the body, so the intellect is to the soul. When you understand the intellect as the eye of the soul, you can get a sense of what we mean by intellect just to begin the discussion. And again, for St. Thomas, it's going to carry out lots of abstract thought,. apprehension of the good, judgment of conscience. It all belongs to intellect. All right, the other power that belongs to mind is the competitive power, the will. So it's all kind of deceptive in a way to just sort of put one word on it.
