The purists got there very, very early and basically undermined what is known in philosophy as the rationalist program. Now very few philosophers today of course spend any time on pitarism. The purists would probably be very happy with something like Godol's theorem because it's one more piece of evidence that there really is no way to be sure about mathematical knowledge.
