Is the Liquidity Affecting Animals a Social Drug?

If animals could advocate for themselves, let's be incredibly honest. We would not do experiments on them. And also, I am aware that some animals aren't as sentient as others. There is a feeling that there's a sort of continuum and what do we do? Should we, if we could, turn back time and not have any of those advances in science or find other ways of having advances in medicine? Like what's the ideal there?
