The Experience of Package Holidays

By 19 72, 73, the majority of people on package toals were working class people. People would run down and form a cue at travel agents to book for their particular chosen two weeks. You'd fly to perpignon in southern france, then you'd get a sort of really tiresome, hot coach journey over the pyrenees or costa brava. In the seventies, you got the rise of these sort of super hotels with enormous pools, huge association airos downstairs. They specifically designed to accommodate working class germans and working class britons wishd to meet new people. And increasingly they nit the unions for increased holiday entitements.
