Observations Lead to Knowledge of Reality
The role of observations is to provide a source of problems with existing knowledge. You need to, in Popper's terminology, take a stab at it. Take a guess. Your guess may fail. But only then by comparing the guess to reality. Does it work or is it refuted by observation? The observation won't give you the answer. It will just tell you that your knowledge doesn't work. See how Miss Rand handled the concept of justice and how much effort she put into making the case. Very clear. Some things are similar while others are not in her discussion of this term.
