Apollo 13's Recovery in the Indian Ocean
Apollo 13 is way off its original flight plan, traveling too slowly to get home. It needs to speed up dramatically and land in an ocean where the crew can be recovered by US Navy ships. But timing is everything - it determines how far they have to stretch their limited life support and power. And just as importantly, it decides which ocean they'll arrive in, and who will be there to rescue them.
