Esperanto: A Gateway Language

Duncan Charterz argues that Esperanto, in addition to being efficient and inventive, can serve as a gateway language. Once someone gets into a language that has enabled them to communicate with people around the world, they then want to learn other languages. There's an enormous degree of trust in this Esperanto world. The word on the street is you arrive and someone hands you their car keys and goes to work.
