The Importance of the Bible in Philistine Archaeology
The Bible, like any ancient source, has to be used as a historian uses it. The main agenda of the Hebrew Bible Old Testament is telling the story of the Davidic dynasty in Jerusalem what happened to it through the eyes of very specific people. But when you look at the archaeological remains, first of all, the Philistines were much more sophisticated than the Israelites. They had upurban system, they had more sophisticated technology, their art and ceramics, etc was much more impressive.
