Marco Polo was an intelligent and inquisitive young man, which made him open to having all these experiences. In many ways, Marco Polo was the perfect person for this. The Chinese cultivated it on big plantations, the production almost strictly done by women. A single moth could lay 500 eggs before dying. This would produce 30,000 silkworms, which went on to produce 12 pounds of raw silk.
