I think it simply had much more to do with the fact that this was another convenient cause that the left in Washington. And I shouldn't say left, it's back to the uni party because you had people like John McCain and Lindsey Graham who were urging that we bomb the Serbs over Kosovo. Anyone who spoke up an urged moderation. The German government never gets credit for this, but privately they were willing to put up enormous sums of money in order to build new cities... We sabotaged that by insisting on a multi-ethnic multinational state where everyone would be forced to live together whether they liked it or not.
