i've always been a bit resistant to hannah arrant's writing, or not reading much of it. It was certainly ambitious, but also there was something grandiose about arent and there was also, to be honest, something a little bit irritating about some of the people who were so fascinated by her. So i didn't and then a couple of years ago, thanks to a student, i was persuaded to read this book from 19 58, the human condition. And i have to say, it completely blew me away. Its extraordinarily wide ranging book. The ideas tumble over each other. But the thing that i wasn't expecting was that a book written in 19 58 would seem
