The Economic Decline of Britain

Post World War II industrial decline and the subsequent financialisation of the economy have led to a dearth of technical jobs. Most people's savings are locked in housing, a non-productive sector. The government is reluctant to rectify this as any action deflating house prices would upset voters. There is a strong argument that this situation is the result of an inevitable downward spiral since around 1900.
