The Skepticism of Hayek
In contemporary politics, there's a deep division between the people who want government action now and those who don't. Hayekians believe that it will be better to limit the power of the state but how do you know that? How can any of us know that if we don't take action now, technological innovation will save us? So I think there is the possibility of another deeper kind of skepticism which cuts against Hayek's skepticism. If we're truly skeptical and we really believe we don't know what the future has in store, we should be open to the idea that the future might require thepower of the state to save us.
