The Argument for Nationalizing the Fossil Fuel Industry

The idea of nationalizing currently privately owned fossil fuel companies is an idea that's been in circulation in recent years with increasing force. The government could essentially manage the wind down of fossil fuel production consistent with kind of timetables necessary to avert the worst of climate change. It could also expand research and development on to sort of leverage fossil fuel assets in a way that could help to reduce emissions. And then the final bucket is various actions it could take that essentially smooth the transition increase social justice in the transition.
