The Effects of Pathogenic Bacteria on Ulcerative Colitis Risk
Some studies have used up to 20 grams per day at prebiotics and I would expect a lot of people to have adverse gastrointestinal side effects from that dosage. Three to five may be the sweet spot. And as your gut microbiota is sort of adapting to this change in food substrate there can be some gas as a transient reaction. If that reaction lasts more than a week I would say two max that indicates it may not be a good fit for you so I would back off.
