Introduction
Gautama made a rule that during the monsoon season, those two and a half months, you can stay in the same place. Normally the monks were sheltered in many homes. Ananda or Ananda Thirta was known as Ghatamas before his monkhood. Went out to get their arms from the people - there was a courtesan or a prostitute in the town. She said, I hear that monks are looking for shelter in many home. Why don't you come and stay in my house? Gautama said, if she's inviting you with so much affection, you must go stay there. Then people say, he's gone.
