The Unconscious Resistance to Psychoanalysis
Sally Kohn: I always thought about this bit from Freud's essay, A Difficulty on psychoanalysis. It's the place where Freud famously says the ego is not master in its own house. But even before he does that, he gives us a 1917 essay, it's called the Difficulty on Psychoanalysis. He situates psychoanalysis and he's talking about psychoanalysis, but in a lot of ways, I really think what he'stalking about is the unconscious.
