The Flat Character Arc
Is there really such a thing as a flat character arc? I don't know. There should always be a layer of emotion and conflict, otherwise the character is not going to be relatable. Another character that comes to mind is Margaret Schlegel from Howard's End. Her character stays pretty much the same throughout the course of the story. But yet there's still that emotional journey.
