How to Show Your Tastes on Your Personal Site

I like the idea of having something really simple that I can easily maintain and that is nicely designed, but the thought of putting together case studies for my website makes me tired. And yet there are designers who don't have to do any of that and can still get incredible jobs just because they have a presence. It's sort of social proof versus I don't know what you call it work proof. You can either show the work or build up the reputation, which they're both difficult in different ways. But I suspect a lot of famous artists like Picasso, for example, probably got a buy a lot on his reputation in some sometimes.
