Sartre had some critiques of the allegory because I think for Camou, it was quite a bold thing to portray Nazism as a plague. For us these days, it's more in line with the long view of how nationalism and fascism can pop up and raise their heads again and again without a kind of vigilance on the part of communities. And so yeah, I think from our perspective now, the idea of the rise of nationalism and fascism is something that is like a plague that comes in wavesThat might have been right at the end of World War II.
