Often We Miss Metaphors That Are in the Text

I think there are a lot of ways that interpreters have misunderstood metaphor or not quite grasped it in its completeness. One tendency has been to reduce metaphor to a propositional statement. Metaphors are intended to be generative. So we don't want to close off that meaning. I think sometimes we fail to recognize metaphors that are there in the text.
