Daughters Are Spilled Out

When a daughter gets married she is expected to then join the husband's family, you know, physically and literally in terms of membership. And so she then belongs, so to speak, rather to the husband’s family than her native family. Of course, when Chinese society was primary agrarian, that really carry very practical significance. Having a boy having having a son is still considered to be a better outcome than having a daughter.
