We use a combination of things. Protobuf has actually been kind of our go-to lately, and that's been working really, really well. We just don't use JSON for anything unless it's really, really tiny. Are you using GRPC or using protobuf separately? I'd have to look. It's always interesting to hear how many people are taking the microservices approach.
