We have gotten away from this respect for reason, it seems to me, because deception is so profitable. We end up sort of trusting in these images in lieu of thinking. This is the christian sin of idolatry,. when you're trusting in an image to give you the truth, rather than logos, the word. It like to to actually go through some logical way of deriving something that's very expensive and requires a lot of time. An image is a lot easier to trust. That i agint the visual have just this unmooring, right? When you're not anchored to reality via reason, you're just in the realm of everything's relative to everything else.
