How Important Is a Mission Statement?

A mission is about empowering and allowing everyone within the organization to share a goal, a vision, a mission. What are we trying? What is everything that we do? What's it all about? What does our company mean? And i think that's really important and really difficult. To day has made me think very hard about what i'm doing in my businesss and where i want to take them aslly.
