The Inner World of Trama

Some of us are given more to experience than we can bear to even entertain at all in consciousness. So when the unmetabolizable, unbearable pain is experienced in earl childhood, what we discover is that very primitive archetypa defenses emerge to prevent this experience from being experienced. A trama survivor will have flashbacks of images without feeling, or feeling without images. And you need whole experience to have conscious experience. Fragmented shards of experience do not lead to integration. That's a definition of trama that we can all get hold of - vi the defences that render impossible experience unconscious are called dissociation.
