How to Build an Open Source Community

Do you intend for your projects to be used at the times, or are you just making em to scratch your own itch and they just happen to catch fire in the wild? I always dread the funding question because i have so many conflicting feelings about funding an open souce. The reality is that money doesn't translate directly into well maintained projects. There's a lot more to it than that. And the people who kon svelt, we pretty tineten. We all work on it because we enjoy the project. We enjoy the community. No one's working on it for money directly.
